The Blue Man Fraud

I have to admit something a lot of people don’t know.

Hi, I’m a science freak.

Yep, I was that kid who had rock tumblers, little chemistry sets, etc to play with, and you bet they were my some of my favorite toys! My sister spent her time playing with her Easy Bake Oven making little cakes while I spent my time mixing things in the world of chemistry.

When I got to high school I had to choose a “career cluster”. Your cluster pointed you in the direction of which classes you needed to take to prepare yourself for college, and I chose the science cluster. Actually I chose 2 clusters and completed classes for both, but science was my “major”. I took all the science classes I could including AP Bio and AP Chemistry. When I got to college that meant 2 of my science classes were already under my belt, so I chose to stick with science although I chose a Biology major.

Even though I chose not to complete college (yet), I still keep up with things that interest me in the science world. I even still reference my old biology and chemistry textbooks from time to time when I want to look up information about something although mostly I just look on the internet for anything I want that’s science related.

That’s why I don’t understand how I missed the story about the “Blue Man”. He’s a guy who apparently the media was saying took Colloidal Silver which caused him to develop a condition called argyria that caused his skin to turn a blueish color. The fact that he plastered his homemade concoction on his body and then laid in a tanning bed to kind of fuse it didn’t help!

I found an article called Blue Man Fraud that explains that this guy didn’t use colloidal silver. He made a homemade silver compound, but the truth is colloidal silver can’t be homemade. Stuff like this is really interesting to me, so I’m definitely going to have to do a little more reading up on this.
